Amanda M. Klasing, M.A., J.D.
RFK Social Justice Fellow, 2008-2009
Amanda M. Klasing is the 2008-2009 Robert F. Kennedy Social Justice Fellow. The RFK Social Justice Fellowship provides invaluable training and experience for a recent law school graduate while the fellow provides crucial legal and advocacy support for the RFK Center and its laureates.
Ms. Klasing earned her B.A. and B.S. from Southern Methodist University and her M.A. from the University of Chicago. She attained her Juris Doctorate from New York University School of Law in May 2008.
As a law student, Ms. Klasing worked on issues ranging from indigenous rights, transitional justice, human rights abuses in the “War on Terror,” immigrant rights, and economic and social rights. As a member of the International Human Rights Clinic at NYU School of Law, Ms. Klasing first worked with the RFK Center on issues regarding the right to health in Haiti. Following her clinical work, she served as principal investigator of the RFK Center’s Right to Water Project in Port-de-Paix, Haiti.
Ms. Klasing is fluent in English, proficient in French and Spanish and has working knowledge of Haitian Kreyòl.
The Social Justice Fellowship is a one-year position beginning in August 2008.
