Requesting anonymity due to possible persecution, the 1996 Sudanese Laureate has been a leading organizer of human rights efforts to eliminate the persecution of minorities, promote womenís rights, and oppose the pursuit of war in South Sudan.

Due to political exile, health problems or the pursuit of personal endeavors, a number of Laureates are no longer partnered with the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Human Rights.
